Wow, a rec, only took me 3 years. I read less and less fanfic these days but still occasionally feel the desire to check out A03 from time to time and came across this Sherlock / Star Trek: The Original Series crossover written back in 2018! It was fun so in case anyone is still checking out this site here's to fanfic...
Sher Trek Miniseries by Caresa Toland A five-"episode fusion between Star Trek: The Original Series and the BBC's Sherlock, and featuring the adventures of Captain John H. Watson of the Federation Starship Enterprise and his first officer, Lt. Cmdr. Sh'lok. Includes retellings / restructurings of five Star Trek: The Original Series episodes, appearing here as "A Study In Darkness", "The Denevan Problem", "Sh'lok's Brain", and "Amok Sign and Mirror Mirror. A cleverly re-imagined and fun series. Warning that the 5th story is missing the last chapter but is still worth a read.

Harry Potter and the Midlife Crisis by Enigmaris “The first group I sent over made the Avengers uncomfortable by thanking them constantly and asking for autographs. The next group stole things to sell on ebay. The group after that didn’t even get through the front door because Stark’s security system found something in their background that we missed. The fourth group left traumatized after cleaning out Thor’s room, apparently the god had some beheaded poultry dripping blood into a bowl in there. Then after that every group I’ve left hasn’t lasted more than three days because of some problem or another. I’m pretty sure one of those assholes has made it a game to scare my workers away.” “I don’t think you’re supposed to call the heroes of New York assholes.” Or, cleaning up after the Avengers involves more than just getting blood stains out of the carpet and most of them can't take the heat. Thankfully the Savior of the Wizarding has spent the last decade cleaning up after Death Eaters, so she's up to the task. Nothing, not pranks, bird corpses, or unidentified slime will keep her from cleaning up. Something completely different :-) I occasionally start reading a crossover with a fascinating summary (a couple of Sherlock/Avengers crossover were fun) and this summary caught my attention. Holly (Harry here is a young woman) makes for an engaging heroine. Things start quite small with the team getting to know her and she them. Holly starts turning their lives around at the same time as the Avengers begin to change her and then things just explode... A fascinating and rewarding read.

And we are kind to snails by vaguely_concerned It was obviously way too early to introduce the kid to combat training, but there were other ways to prepare a child for the world, surely. If that meant Din was occasionally stuck trying to imitate animal calls for the enjoyment and edification of a delighted and indefatigable one-person audience, so be it. Utterly delightful.

The Child and his Mandalorian by deebainwonderland It has been a very long time since the Mandalorian has truly known that he is loved. This is a series of short one shots regarding the relationship between the Mandalorian and his Child (aka the green bean or baby yoda :-)), all delightful and often revealing.

The Parent by DistantStorm He says he is not the child’s anything. He is a man, righting a wrong. Nothing more. (He is wrong.) I very much enjoyed the Mandalorian and of course the delightful 'baby yoda'. Oh and the theme tune is fantastic, google it and listen. DistantStorm has written a brilliant piece about the slowly developing bond between Mando and 'baby yoda'  from Mando's perspective

Annie Sawyer, This Is Your Afterlife by waspabi Annie still feels like a person. Her hands feel like hands. Her hair feels like hair. But Annie’s hair doesn’t grow; and her nails don’t break; and no one has looked at her in one year and nine months, ever since she fell down the stairs and split her head open on the black and white tile of her new house. A delightful short from the Being Human (original/UK) universe when it was all so new, fun, entertaining and mainly angst free.

I was sorting out my bookmarks, a long, arduous job I keep being distracted from, and came across this -

The Gallactic Miscellany
by Rheanna The Galactic Miscellany; or, How Arthur Dent Learned to Stop Worrying and Love His Towel. With footnotes. Very funny and captures the spirit of Douglas Adam's HHGTTG perfectly.

The God Eaters by Jesse Hajicek Imprisoned for 'inflammatory writings' by the totalitarian Theocracy, shy intellectual Ashleigh Trine figures his story's over. But when he meets Kieran Trevarde, a hard-hearted gunslinger with a dark magic lurking in his blood, Ash finds that necessity makes strange heroes... and love can change the world. I came across a list of Fantasy books/novels featuring gay main characters. I followed up this one and it was free on line. It's a mixture of a western with magic,  a harsh totalitarian religious state, fantasy and romance. Of the two main characters Kieran was fascinating while Ashleigh/Ash took time to grow on me, possibly because I struggled to imagine a 6' plus man blushing and acting quite as naively and wimply as he is first described. Generally a very interesting and rewarding read. I'd like a sequel.

Captive Prince by freece Damen is the true heir to the throne, but when his half brother seizes power, Damen is captured, stripped of his identity and sent to serve the prince of a rival nation as a pleasure slave I've been reading this regularly updated WIP for some time now. It has many readers and appears to be very well know, read this fanlore wikki review for a flavour. As the review says, the summary doesn't do the story credit, it's not a typical 'pleasure slave' story (although don't ask me to define typical :-)) it's so much more than that. Well worth a read.

Note, this is no longer available on line as it is now in print, however the page is still up and you can get a 'feel' for the book from the comments etc.

Undesirable (A Vampire Novel) by velvet mace At the height of the Cold War, vampires came out of the closet and staged a coup to save humans from destroying themselves. All the Vampire protectors wanted in return was a simple monetary tithe and, of course, blood. But not George Handle's blood. He tastes foul. Maybe. Possibly. Okay, that might be a lie. Shit. Getting home from a business trip becomes very hard when every vampire around is suddenly after your skin. I read this fascinating original novel with great excitement. It was intriguing, different, fast paced and very well plotted. I really fell for George and was intrigued by Jeffrey. I wanted George to prevail, somehow and I could hardly wait to see how the author was going to finish the story. She didn't disappoint.
