AU
  • An Echo of Freedom by Quinn is a very dark story, but well worth reading
  • Bait and Switch by kellifer_fic Pre slash. Covert Ops!Jack!!! (AU) challenge. In a SGC gone bad and under NID control, Sam and Daniel try their best to fight back. Then 'someone' takes more than an interest in their activities. This is a fascinating and intriguing story.
  • Five things that never happened to Daniel Jackson by Todesengel is, as it states, five possibilities that might have happened. Some are heart breaking, others intriguing, all are worth a read.
  • Jack's Viking Sky by Mitch H. This is an eight book series. It is long, very long, involved, detailed and not a light or easy read, but I found myself absorbed and intrigued. It's not really an AU in the sense that Jack and Daniel are our J/D, but the action and place is so out of the ordinary it might as well be!
  • maut ka mandir by 001100100 Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom fusion A delightful AU J/D interest of course, but more focused on the story and the action with Teal'c playing a very prominent part.
  • Perspective by Brenda Antrim as Glacis is a story set after Meridian, and based on a mirror universe. The pairings are Daniel/Skaara and Daniel/Teal'c, and it is a fast action trip with old friends within an AU setting, but linking in with the world we know. Intriguing, and worth a read.
  • Phoenix by Morgan O and Gharedsu, a Mirror Universe Novel. The primary pairing is Daniel/Janet, but there is a delicious surprise later on for slash fans, really delicious. This is long, involved and worth your time. Even if you are not into Daniel/Janet give this story a go, yes Daniel and Janet are together and love each other, but this is not the primary focus of the story, nor is it necessarily the way things will end.
  • Please Hang UP and TRY Again (five phone call Daniel Jackson never got) byabyssinia4077 Daniel got a lot of phone calls over the years. Here's five he didn't. Beautiful and heartbreaking. Calls from AU universes and calls that seem so very believable for his teammates to have left for him while he was still 'glowy'.
  • Quest by green grrl Prompt: Princesses (or princes) that don't want to be rescued from the dragon, thank you very much, and rescuers that say 'okay, in that case, do you mind if I stay? Delightful and warmly funny. :-)
  • Serpent in the Shadow by Selenay is possibly the first piece of High Fantasy in the Stargate universe.Highly enjoyable and worth a read.
  • Stargate Explorer by starg8 explorer (gen) The Further Adventures of Daniel Jackson A very interesting and often highly angsty AU that is well worth a read.
  • The Dead Can Dance by Sorrel (pre slash) 'He came here most every night, now, a grudging sense of duty changed to grudging respect changed to friendship changed to something more.' Jack pays a visit to the Jackson household. An absolutely fascinating and original AU.
  • The Legend of Daniel Jackson by Sam Walker is a delightful AU story about a 9 year old Daniel and the neighbours, called Jack and Sara, who befriend him, gen obviously.
  • The Road to Follow by Anne Stranded in the AU Ba'al created by manipulating the timeline, Daniel Jackson finds himself recruited back to the SGC by one General Jack O'Neill - will they overcome their trust issues and find a way to work together? It's a long way for both men until a new bond of friendship and maybe more can be built. And then SG-1 is finally re-united to fix the timeline... but Ba'al is prepared on all levels.... A long and intriguing AU set in Continuum, it twists and turns all over the place and while never pressing the reset button manages to convince and provide some comfort.
  • This is the Difficult Listening Hour or Four Times Daniel wasn't Quite Himself and One Time he Was by saleri Five AUs, kind of, in which Daniel is not quite himself. Beautifully written short stories in which both Jack and Daniel are so in character even when they are not actually themselves! :-)

    Aliens Made us 'do it'
  • Another day at the office by muck a luck. This is a 'aliens made us do it' type of stories. The author says I have a terrible block about getting Daniel to top. The entire purpose of this piece of meaningless, worthless smut was to get Daniel to fuck Jack! I have to admit that the ending with a somewhat bewildered and concerned Hammond listening to SG-1's mission report was my favourite part. *g*
  • Blame it on the aliens by Dusty. The old 'aliens made us have sex' cliche written with humour and in a great Jack voice.
  • Love Song by dirty diana is a 'love, angst and sex under alien influence' story, with a slight twist. The Thong Story is an amusing pwp with both Jack and Daniel beautifully written and characterised.
  • Pavlov by Kalimyre Daniel has a theory. Can you ever really have too many 'Aliens Make Them Do It' stories? The answer is, not when they are as funny as this one.
  • In Reveille by the lady of shallot. Jack and Daniel wake up in bed together, and it's all the natives fault! While in Objectives aliens force Jack and Daniel to have sex. Both fandom cliches written beautifully with humour and great dialogue.
  • Still Life with Cliche by Komos I loved Sam in this, I loved her anger - both for herself and for Jack and Daniel, her pain and finally her care and concern for Daniel. I loved Daniel to pieces and found myself comparing his hesitancy and ardour with Sam against how I felt that Jack would have dealt with the same situation. I didn't get to grips with Jack so much, but did feel his anguish at the sheer fucked up situation. Painful, a shock ending and damn good rendering of the 'aliens made us do it' cliche. Here is her web page - Komos
  • Temenos by Seanchaidh is an 'aliens made me do it' story that's enjoyable and well worth a read.

    Android SG-1 inspired stories
  • Or else no flesh should live by Meredith is about the androids from Tin Man (Season 1) and Double Jeopardy (Season 4). Meredith story shows, from Jack's pov, how the the android Jack and Daniel became lovers (and hints at the other pairing that came across so beautifully in Double Jeopardy). Angsty and introspective with lovely splashes of humour along the way.
  • The Archaeology of Skin by Nanda OT4 (D/S/J/T, sort of) 'Don't you ever just want to touch somebody? Don't you miss that?' Takes place between Tin Man and Double Jeopardy. A great team fic, okay, with sex, but it's more about friendship and making a place for themselves.
  • The Body Electric by Merry (gen). I really don't know how I forgot to recommend this. A tag for Double Jeopardy where 'Daniel's body is even more in demand than usual'.
  • The Cost of A Used Spaceship by Marie Blackpool involves the robots of Tin Men and is a beautifully written and thoughtful tag to Double Jeopardy.
  • Unmade by Destina. This story is beautifully written and hurts so damn much. Read it.

    Character Study
  • A Recital of Intimate Works by merrin is described by the author as a character study. It's a study of all four of the characters of SG-1 and also a stream of consciousness. I liked it, there are a lot of fascinating nuggets of information in the short sketches merrin writes.
  • Britishisms by thucyken is a very dry and witty story where Jack muses on the enigma that Daniel presents to him, mostly in Briticisms, or as one reviewer wrote, Daniel the Pooh! Oh, just read it, it's funny and clever.
  • Enduring by chelle. Twenty-one. This will be the twenty-first time they've done this, snuck away like thieves in the night Jack's contemplations before and during Daniel's visit to the cabin he's hired. Short, intriguing and very in character.
  • For each ecstatic instantby Dith is a very interesting and original look at the Jack and Daniel relationship from the beginning and beyond. Don't expect a romance, but do expect fine writing and wonderful characterisation.
  • Grounded by Pares. 'If I hadn't died so many times already, I'd guess I was having a midlife crisis'. Daniel tells Jack. So Jack decides to help him out of it. A short and beautifully written character study.
  • Illumination by ELG is a new one to me, and I thought I'd read all her stories. It is sensual, beautiful and haunting.
  • It's a Kirk and Spock Thing by Lokei Spock: Where would you estimate we belong, Miss Keeler? Edith Keeler: You? At his side, as if you've always been there and always will. Delightful fic with wonderful interaction between Jack and the Daniels who are written so insightfully and in character. The banter is fun and Sam and Teal'c add to the general all good feeling the fic creates.
  • The Company You Keep by Sori is a warm friendship and more piece, that delves into the type of friendship between Jack and Daniel in a very interesting way. I like this, and I very much like the characterisation of both men.
  • Walls and mirrors by Paian. A Season 4 based story that looks at Daniel and Jack's friendship from Jack's pov. Beautifully written well characterised and so very plausible.

    Crossovers
  • Actualize This by Helena Handbasket. A gen SG-1 (just Jack and Daniel), Sentinel and Invisible Man crossover. And no, I don't really know either of the other fandoms, but nether the less found this highly funny with wicked J/D interaction and dialogue, and the other partners banter was funny as well.
  • Babette's Plague by kellifer k. This is a crossover with Atlantis, but is J/D all the way! It has Jack as General accompanying SG-1 including Mitchell, on the Prometheus to Atlantis. Trouble hits them all, particularly Daniel, as soon as they arrive.
  • Interference Patterns by BT is a Stargate/Quantum Leap xover (gen). Sam Beckett leaps into Daniel's body while they are on amission and Ziggy and Al can't find him. Daniel meanwhile is reluctant to give any information at all to the secret military project that are holding him, although he is a little perturbed to be wearing someone else's body. An enjoyable and interesting read.
  • Loyalties by Brenda Antrim is a J/D story, and is a crossover with the X-Files. M/K and J/D, yummy! Perhaps that is the reason why I liked it. :-)
  • Someone there to hear it by Spaniel Kindred spirits and shared frustrations, and maybe a little too much gin. A short Heroes (Mohinder) SG-1(Daniel) crossover, and very clever it is too.
  • Stardust by kikkimax is a Stargate/NCIS crossover. It's mainly NCIS and Daniel, or to be more specific, Daniel and Tony, although the rest of SG-1 are around and very much part of the story, but not with Daniel. I know nothing about NCIS, but I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure story with the most delightful development of a gentle understanding between Tony and the man he knows as John Doe for much of the story.
  • Straight Roads by Cappuccino is a Daniel/Krycek pairing. She says it's her dream pairing, mine would be Daniel/Mulder, perhaps I'll have to write one myself. Daniel's love for Jack is alluded to, but the promised sequel never happened. However, I like this for Krycek's observations on Daniel.
  • T is for Time by wishfulaces Never did they realize that really, he was all the same person. The Team plus several Doctors, just delightful! (gen)
  • Suspended by Ghared is a Daniel/John Doe crossover (with hints of J/D). I've never seen John Doe, but the story dragged me in kicking and screaming. Daniel and John are caught 'suspended' - hence the title - between one moment of their separate lives and the next. Daniel is seen through John's eyes, and he is both familiar and strange, one moment staggeringly complex, the next simple and straightforward. An interesting story.
  • Upon A Fiery Steed by Vathara. (Gen on SG-1s part!) Daniel. Duo. Two trouble magnets, one very unlucky System Lord... Gundam Wing AU crossover. I know nothing about Gundam Wing, but I did find this crossover fascinating when I read it some years back, rereading it again, I think it's worth a rec.
  • We landed in a hurricane by Cerebral fics Invasion/Stargate (Tom/Daniel) “How did it go?” asks General Hammond. “Ask fish boy,” says Jack. I enjoyed Invasion and was sad when it was chopped before any resolution. This is rather yummy and focuses on Daniel's curiosity and desire to learn mixed with a an interest in Sheriff Tom Underlay as a person.

    Daniel focused
  • A Better Species of Insults by Lokei You know that saying, "don't dish it out if you can't take it?" Daniel’s giving lessons. Very clever and amusing.
  • Cold by kres is a story that needs carefully rereading. It's poetic, intense and compelling.
  • Daniel's Diaries by Scribe (gen)include the wonderful Shower Scenes. These are often funny, always clever, sometimes moving and always worth a read. She also has a few other contributors keen to get Daniel, and at times Jack, naked. Well who wouldn't? Scribe is also a Danny whumper extraordinaire. Some of her stories have me reading with my eyes closed (a specialty of mine), but I have a soft spot for Peace Offering, (written with Kaz). I still want to know exactly what that outfit Osiris had Daniel wearing looked like!
  • Desert Son by kikkimax. (gen) Daniel is drawn in to the strange politics of a world waiting to be relocated to a better place. Is the price to help them too high? A long and fascinating story about fate, and how sometimes fate needs a hand.
  • Five Ways Daniel improved Atlantis by findo I was drawn into the story by the title and despite the fact that my interest in SGA is very minimal I stayed throughout because it was both interesting and often funny.
  • Somnambulist by C.L. Kamnikar (gen). Daniel's late night thoughts as he searches the base for coffee. An amusing trip into Daniel's caffeine deprived mind.
  • Tents by Debi C. A lovely little introspective piece, Daniel musing on Tents he has known.
  • The Annule Series by D Kelley consists of a number of stories. The stories are of Daniel, and his heritage, but while undeniably Daniel centric - as if that's a bad thing! - they're also wonderful affirmation of the love and friendship of SG-1and are therefore often great team stories as well. Fascinating and different.
  • The Sun on the Horizon by Caprice Sesh (gen) This story was inspired by a challenge on the HC list a few years ago. Start a story with the words 'Daniel lay on the floor, naked, bound... From that small gumnut a mighty mountain ash grew, and keeps growing! Fascinating start, and grows more interesting as each chapter is added.
  • Untitled Daniel by 6beforelunch A delightful comment fic in regards to the fanon trope that Daniel is regularly bullied at the SGC. They wouldn't dare...

    Daniel / Cameron
  • Cascade by Kylie Lee or here While SG-1 is on the planet Pelos for a first-contact negotiation, Daniel suddenly gains the ability to speak the language. General Season 9 events up through about 9.08 Babylon. A very intriguing story that reflects on the new SG-1 and the old SG-1. Sam is with Jack here, and happy. Daniel is contemplating leaving SG-1 while trying to learn a very different language. His experiences on the planet, along with a disconcerting ability to read minds, makes him look at Cameron Mitchell in a different light.
  • Duck Duck Goose by Sid Prompt was Rubber ducks. And a napkin store that also has silver and yellow candles. Which turned into a very funny crack fic!
  • Fanboy by Tang Guangzhen Cam deals with his little hero-worship situation, among other things. A funny, clever story that centres on Cameron's 'enthusiasm' for all of SG-1, but for Daniel there's that little bit extra...
  • Lost Time by Spillingvelvet It's all fun and games until someone puts on an alien gadget. A highly enjoyable Daniel/Cam interaction with rather clever use of time. I love Cam's tricks and I enjoyed the general team interaction particularly with Vala's quirky antics.
  • Metaphor by synecdohic Cam's trying his very best, but he's beginning to get worried it might not be good enough. Daniel's got an advantage: he knows his best has never been good enough and the sequel Depth Charge Cam fucks up a lot, but his biggest fuckup is thinking that Daniel's just this guy, you know? Two fascinating fics from Cameron's pov. I'm not entirely sure that this Daniel is quite the man I adore on screen, but he is sure intriguing and Cameron's attempts to get to know him are both amusing and very rewarding.
  • The Subtext of a Name by Tenaya. A rather delightful story that starts with Daniel musing about choice and finishes with some wonderfully flirtatious banter between Daniel and Cameron.
  • Walk on Water by dirty diana An intriguing walk though Cameron's thoughts and experiences with the SGC, SG-1 and in particular one Daniel Jackson.

    Daniel as Ninja
Go here for a list of all I've found.

    Dark fic / Apocafic
  • An Echo of Freedom by Quinn is a very dark story, but well worth reading.
  • At The Hour When Hour When We Are Trembling by  frostfire17 SG1/SGA crossover Daniel/John Post S2/S9 apocafic. The Wraith make it to Earth, and John and Daniel are left to pick up the pieces. A long plot filled fascinating story that focuses on John and Daniel's survival in a decimated world along with a loyal and slow growing team of military and scientist who are determined to make a difference. The story is seen from John's pov and reflects upon his colleagues left behind and his observations of one Daniel Jackson. It's bleak and dark but there is also humour and wonderful characterisation. A rewarding read.
  • Deus Machina by Artifuss Ba'al takes his godship one step further, creating a disastrous mess for the SGC. Intriguing and somewhat unsettling story that's worth a read.
  • Close to Bone by synecdohic Nobody hears from Jack's clone for three years, until he shows up and tells Daniel they're all in danger. Hallowed be the Ori. This was written for the dark_gate ficathon and dark is is with SG-1 going rogue for the best of intentions. There's a smidgeon of CloneJack/Daniel, but this is mainly a team fic. To Let His Kingdom Rise by ivorygates (this is a locked entry) is a chilling coda with Hail for the King is Here being the very dark coda to that. Alternatively Tangled Web: Five Ways The Truth Will Out by greengirl giving us three very different endings from details planted in Close to Bone and two endings extended past To Let His Kingdom Rise. All are worth reading.

    Death Fic
  • The Box by Sam Walker is a short intriguing, sad little retrospective from Cassie's pov.
  • Unmade by Destina. This story is beautifully written and hurts so damn much. Read it.
  • Willemakee by Mary Jane is a death story, but it is also a story about life, love and possibilities. It is both heart breaking and beautiful. Even if you don't normally read death stories, read this and weep, but also dream.

    Five...
  • Five conversations Daniel never had by Teand is just hysterical.
  • Five things that never happened to Daniel Jackson by Todesengel is, as it states, five possibilities that might have happened. Some are heart breaking, others intriguing, all are worth a read.
  • Five Ways Daniel improved Atlantis by findo I was drawn into the story by the title and despite the fact that my interest in SGA is very minimal I stayed throughout because it was both interesting and often funny.
  • Five Ways Jack and Daniel Didn't Kiss for the First Time and One Way They Did by Clockstopper I think the title says it all Absolutely delightful, number 5 made me cackle happily. :-)

    Friendship Fic
  • A Rock and a Hard Place (gen) by Sam Walker. To save Daniel's life, Jack has to do that hardest of all things: talk. While this has a measure of angst, it is mostly a Jack/Daniel friendship story, as well as a story of the SG-1 and many in the SGC working together. It is also very, very funny in parts.
  • Bitter Consequences by Maureen Thayer. A Sam/Daniel friendship and eventual romance story with superb Jack and Daniel friendship along the way. I really like the way she presents the slow build up of Sam and Daniel's love, yet never ever detracts or diminishes the deep caring, friendship and love between all the teammates. If you'd prefer the gen version it is linked to on the title page.
  • Conundrum by Nancy Richardson. (gen) Jack needs help and Daniel reciprocates. I'm not certain that Daniel 'reciprocates', but he certainly tries to help Jack out here! *g* This is beautiful snappy dialogue with that wonderful friendly banter and sniping that sums up the Jack and Daniel friendship.
  • From the Ashes by Sam Walker. A gen Daniel and Teal'c friendship story, with a lot of team angst and pain, and the majestic, but easily irritated, Bra'tac. An excellent read
  • Rock, Toilet Paper, Scissors by Tallulah (gen) Simple sounds can have complicated meanings, and simple games can be played for complicated reasons. A team story with a focus on the Jack/Daniel friendship and banter, beautifully written, charming and funny.
  • Siege by Seanchaidh (gen)This concentrates heavily on Jack and Daniel, but rather differently from how we usually see them. The ending is a delight and a 'Jack and Daniel friendship' moment at its hilarious best.
  • Impatient by green grrl (gen/slash or preslash, take your pick) 'Thumanitis? What's that? Jack didn't like the sound of it. Season 9 -- even living on opposite sides of the country, the guys still need to look out for each other. A highly enjoyable Jack and Daniel interaction following Jack's admission to a military hospital in Washington DC following a fall.

    Genderfuckery
  • Adjustments by muck a luck This story is a close cousin of Metamorphosis, except in this story, Daniel really has changed into a woman. And a damn good, but angsty story it is with three separate endings. A, B and C, I like ending A best, but then Daniel as a woman does nothing for me. *g*
  • Somewhere a dog barks by D H DeVice Jack finds Daniel has become a part of his life, whether he likes it or not. Mad and hilarious story that made me cry with laughter at times, but then again imagining Jack as a woman does that to me. :-)

    Goaulded member of SG-1
  • Dark Side by Sandi. Another of those pesky WIP's. This one has had me hanging for months. Intriguing, but I somehow doubt it is ever going to be completed!
  • Possession by muck a luck The ultimate mission failure. SG-1 is captured by a goa'uld and Jack becomes the goa'uld's new host. Highly intriguing take on Goa'uld possession with the Goa'uld deciding to follow up on Jack's repressed desire for Daniel. Do read the warnings though.
  • Sinners Grove by Martha. Sometimes too much of the host survives This is scary, horrifying, frightening, violent, painful and damn well written.
  • Through the eyes of a Serpent by Eos, (gen)Daniel gets snaked, as seen through Daniel's eyes. The follow up Legacy of the Serpent continues the story and while very dark and disturbing at times, also has some wonderful one liners mostly from Jack and Daniel, but also from Sam and Teal'c.

    Het/Ship
  • Batter my heart, three-personed God, for you. byLC. This is very different from my normal reading. No Daniel, Jack, Sam, no team. Pre the SGC. Just Teal'c, Drey'auc and their 'god'. Painful, but clever.
  • Beach Towels and Revelations by Six Before Lunch (D/S implied) Sam misses the obvious until one day she doesn't. Fun interaction between Sam, Vala and Cameron.
  • Campfire Questions, Three-In-The-Morning Thoughts by Perri Smith. This is a Sam and Daniel friendship story and is both warm and funny.
  • Cornerstone by abyssinia4077 (D/Sam, D/Share,D/Sarah) His fingers, long and steady, trace hieroglyphs, letters, runes, ideographs into her back, fingertips rubbing against warm, smooth skin as he imprints the protective charms of twenty-three languages into her flesh. A beautiful poetic look at the women in his life that Daniel loves or has loved.
  • Chrysostom by tafkar Daniel/Vala The author notes that
Chrystostom, or 'golden-mouthed', was the appellation given to St. John, one of the early archbishops of Constantinople, for his way with words. She also calls is NC-17 gen. Read it and see what she's talking about. *g*
  • Consider the Ostrich (Daniel/Vala) by janedavitt, Short and funny.
  • Daniel Jackson Unbound by Courser. Daniel/Vala. Written before Prometheus Unbound was shown this is a very sexy take on how the encounter between them could have gone!
  • Do not stray by Otter. She learns to kiss with her whole mouth, like she's trying to swallow down his soul for safekeeping, and sometimes she sings the old songs into his ear. A beautiful and short look at Daniel and Sha're's life before the Stargate was unburied.
  • Duck by sdraevn, Daniel musing on Vala. 'Daniel wants to cry seriously, he does. She makes him want to cry big girly tears and stamp his foot like a child because she drives him that insane. It's a good thing that Jack's not around because for that reason alone, he'd probably offer her a job.' This is well worth a read.
  • Eurydice Ascending by C L Kamnikar (Daniel/Sha're) is beautiful.
  • Fools Gold by Corby (Daniel/Shauri). Daniel is a fool for love, and takes a serious risk to show it. This is a beautifully written, poignant and clever story. Run and read it.
  • Loosely Bound Series by Joolz. Joolz writes J/D and gen stories often with a het tinge. The het tinge in her gen stories means Daniel/Sam. My favourite is Unwanted Attention What I like about these is her portrayal of both Daniel and Sam as vibrant, sexual beings, as well as wonderful people and great friends. Her gen stories do not concentrate on Sam and Daniel to the neglect of Jack and Teal'c, and the Jack/Daniel friendship, and team friendship, is strong and convincing.
  • Lucky by Julie Fortune (Daniel/Vala). Daniel and Vala off world, in trouble and trying to get home with all the snarking, flirting, teasing and sniping we've come to expect from this pair!
  • Money's Worth by Severa. Daniel/Vala. Ever wondered where Vala got her rather vampy clothes from?
  • The Matter at Hand by Cofax and Jonquil. Daniel and Vala are trapped offworld. Stuff happens. A beautifully written Daniel/Vala story, very in character and often very funny.
  • Unreasonable by raqs Sam/Daniel. This is a delightful pairing of Sam and Daniel. The author usually writes J/D and she manages to allude to that here as well, but this is a gorgeous friendship/love story and I really enjoyed Sam's voice and her pov in this. Just delightful.

    Humour
  • A Different Sort of Command by kuonji There's Jack, and there's Daniel, but not quite as we know them! This is clever and funny and looks like it may become a series!
  • A Long Day's Journey In A Line by Sideburns is just hilarious.
  • Acts of Gods and Colonels by Livengoo (gen)had me howling with laughter. I remember reading it when it first appeared, and it was a fresh and funny the second time as the first. My only complaint is that near then end there needs to be a break in the story to show that the bit where Jack is showing off his plumbing comes a lot later. It's kind of bewildering at first, but does not detract from the story.
  • Animal, Vegetable, Mineral by kuonji14 Later, Jack would blame the eye-roll. Very funny and entertaining fic.
  • Bonded by Tallulah Rasa gen, Early season silliness Jack discovers that dismissing his linguist as unnecessary is very unwise as Daniel takes subtle revenge for the insults. I was in tears of laughter by the end.
  • Daniel in wonderland by sg betty a very funny crack!fic taking an amusing look at fanon clichés.
  • Duck Duck Goose by Sid (Daniel/Cameron) Prompt was Rubber ducks. And a napkin store that also has silver and yellow candles. Which turned into a very funny crack fic!
  • Fang Fic by Devil Cat is a WIP, and will forever remain a WIP, sigh, but it's funny, witty and clever with a hot Daniel, leather clad Jack and Lestat! Oh mama!
  • Five conversations Daniel never had by Teand is just hysterical.
  • Folsom Prison Blues by Evell gen A fiery death was so not on his agenda for today. A clever, witty and very funny team fic with wonderful voices for all of the team (Jack, Daniel, Sam and Teal'c).
  • For Every Action by tresa cho Jack and Daniel go not-quite-undercover to monitor some goings-on outside the mountain. What they discover about themselves will change everything. The author calls this a 'shameless romp in fandom'. SG-1 at a Wormhole Extreme con with Jack and Daniel, off course, getting into mischief. :-)
  • Four Characters in Search of Good Writing by Xochiquetzl gen A clever parody written around the time of Season 5/6.
  • Frolicking (gen) by Jonah in the Whale. A fun bit of fluff.
  • From Another Planet by muck a luck Jack and Daniel are ready to move farther in their relationship. If only the aliens would leave them alone. Very amusing and sexy fic. I didn't stop grinning throughout.
  • Have Yourself A Manic Little Christmas by Tiffany Park (gen) A Christmas read that had me snorting with laughter. An oldie but goodie.
  • Hives, Hiccups and Sprains by Aimless. Jack's mouth gets everyone into trouble. A funny story with a wickedly apt ending. Go, Daniel, go!
  • Jell-O-Shots by Jennghis Kahn. A funny and highly enjoyable team fic as seen from Sam's pov.
  • Learning... Tilt? by Lokei Dangerous Daniel! The last line made me snort coffee. :-)
  • Love is a many splintered thing by Eos is deliciously funny. It also has Janet/Paul Davis, an interesting pairing and I loved the hapless, foot in mouth portrayal of him.
  • Lost in Translation by Vathara. Ever wonder what would happen if a Goa'uld misread hieroglyphs? Another oldie, but very funny story that had me chortling from time to time.
  • Mooshee! by Salieri is a very funny story that involves Shakespeare's sonnets, Jaffa poetry, Swedish, an alien moose and Daniel's boot laces.
  • Morning Run by Layton Colt. (gen) A delightfully funny tale with great Jack and Daniel characterisations. I SO enjoy pissy, sarcastic Daniel battling it out with a smartarse Colonel.
  • Office Tryst by Layton Colt had me shaking with laughter, I thoroughly enjoyed Useless Knowledge and giggled through Why Me? a clever piece in Ferretti's voice, all Gen. Check them, and others, at her Live journal.
  • Planet of the Penguins by greensilver Jack and Daniel at the zoo This made me snigger happily.
  • Proclivity by Otter is an amusing muse on Daniel's eyebrows (personally I adore them).
  • Scratching an Itch by Lady Ra is funny and, well it's just funny and rather clever. *g*
  • The Bread Box Edition Series by Nialla (gen, but alludes to slash, ship etc.) This a series of parodies of the episodes in Season 7. They are very funny, with a number of laugh out loud moments and are a very clever piss take of some of the more stupid moments, gaffs, clichés and poor writing in each episode. So far Nialla has concentrated on Season 7 and intends to write one after each episode. If we're lucky, she might go back through the other seasons.
  • The Cat Came Back by thothmes This hilarious send-up of Ascension began as commentfic from Thothmes and was expanded by Beth in The Cat Came Back Again. Take typical cat traits and add Ascended Daniel to the mix, and you get... well, this! And read the comments on the second story to get a highly amusing epilogue to the series. (gen)
  • The Devil his Due by Saladscream. A funny, witty, clever and intelligent 'silly fic'. Good characterisation of Jack and a angry, biting, sarcastic, highly articulate and possessive Daniel! Go Daniel, go!#
  • The Only Winning Move by Synecdochic At 0955, after reading the instructions in their second envelopes, the two SFs guarding the door to Isolation Room 2 looked at each other. "We're gonna get shot," Brooks said. Funny and clever. :-)(Gen)
  • The other side of the coin by Nicci (gen) is a very funny take on body swapping. Daniel needs to investigate an oracle, but only women are permitted to attend the holy of holies, so Sam and Daniel swap bodies. Trouble is, Sam hadn't told Daniel she was in the middle of her period, and Daniel hadn't warned Sam about the early morning 'stiffies' she was going to experience. Jack, meanwhile, was enjoying the floor show and trying to stop laughing, while Teal'c was learning of the 'medicinal' quality of Snickers. Hilarious! A J/D slash drenched sequel is promised.
  • The Perils of Dating Daniel Jackson (Daniel/Cameron) by Layton Colt They're like the scariest almost in-laws ever. Very funny and very clever Cameron baiting story with wonderful Jack/Daniel friendship.
  • The Saga of Anubis (Or, how Daniel Jackson is Followed by a Kitten) by Lady Lade The kitten stares at him. Daniel stares back. Either Daniel’s hallucinating, or he’s got a Goa’uld kitten in his bathroom. Crackfic at its nuttiest. :-)
  • The Widgeteria has Widget's stories. I sniggered myself silly through herThe Laundry Cycle howled at Bluestoke: The Legend of Daniel, Lord of the Space Monkeys and thoroughly enjoyed Slow boil, or how to seduce an archaeologist.
  • This Player Here, but in a Fiction by Martha is both funny and sly.
  • Two Guys, a Gate, and the Galaxy series by Eos. Don't forget the duck!
  • What a Man Does For His Country by Teand had me almost crying with laughter at this very funny PWP. Then I was reminded of With Flying Colours where Sam wins a test of ...'stamina' snigger.
  • What goes around by Teand is hysterically funny, read it and weep, oops I mean laugh!
  • Xochiquetzl writes hot and often funny J/D. I love Penny for your thoughts, wicked! and I Never and Truth or Dare make me laugh.
  • Zen and the art of chopsticks mutilation by Lillith, Claire and Temaris is hysterical. Daniel and Krycek get um, 'friendly', but Jack wins the day in the end. The follow up, Zen and the Art of Defensive Origami is M/K centric, with Jack's view point of the whole 'fiasco' as well.

    Hurt Comfort
  • Cold by kres is a story that needs carefully rereading. It's poetic, intense and compelling.
  • Daniel Drives by quercus was written at the end of season 4 after hearing the news that Michael Shanks was leaving. It is a sad, dark and sombre piece, but well worth a read.
  • My Country Tis of Thee by Sideburns is angsty as hell, had me in tears and is a damn good read. Basically I recommend all of her work. Read and enjoy. Or check out her Fic Page at FDAS.
  • The Choice by Hapshut is an exciting action and adventure story with Daniel whumping, drama, a very interesting Goa'uld, some British history, and great Jack and Daniel interaction.
  • The Gallian Alliance by Aloysius is a good read and introduces us to some fascinating aliens.
  • The Long and Winding Yellow Brick Road by Sideburns Season 7 rewritten, FDAS style *g*. An epic tale of adventure, love and Oz. A story that starts with a high level of angst and doesn't let up for some time. It's a J/D story, but it has an excellent Teal'c and Sam and is both a fun and involving read.

    Jack/Daniel Established relationship
  • A commentfic! by fbf. This was written as an anniversary present for a friend. It is a short, untitled 'commentfic! its subject matter is anniversaries and is just delightful.
  • Congregation of days by Otter is intriguing and different with lovely Sam, Jack and Daniel interaction.
  • As The Sun Rises by Sonata nights Just a few minutes in the early morning wake-up of Daniel and Jack. An enjoyable snap shot into moments of Jack and Daniel's life in the early days of SG-1.
  • Corridor Life by rachael sabotini is a post season 6 story that alludes to Daniel's ascension and return via Jack's contemplation of the difference in Daniel. The dialogue between the two men is spot on, as is Daniel's frustration with the idiots he is teaching at the SG-1. Delightful.
  • I, In this Darkness by Destina Written for Komos in the 2006 Jack/Daniel ficathon. Komos's requirements: 1) established relationship 2) One of them finding out something he never knew about the other. Her additional requests: 1) dangerous/specialOps!Jack 2) powerful, morally ambiguous Daniel-to-be-reckoned-with. A very well written, powerful story that gains from rereading.
  • Jealousy by Dith. Jack and Daniel have not quite established the limits of their new relationship when something happens on a mission that makes Jack question his place in Daniel's heart. Jealousy and anger then drive the the pair of them apart. An interesting story with Sam and Teal'c integral to the story.
  • Prestidigitation by Otter. A proliferation of syllables! This is one of Otter's happier J/D stories, but all are worth reading. Mind you some require a second or third read just to ensure you've caught all the meanings.
  • Syllepsis by Komos. A delightful story, deep, intense and occasionally painful, involving Jack, Daniel and Jack's ex-wife Sara that manages to avoid all the typical cliches and tells us something interesting about all three.
  • The Rescue That Wasn't by Sideburns amused me and I love her Daniel to pieces!
  • The Trouble with Normal by Rosalita After a Goa'uld invasion, Jack contemplates Daniel and the new normal. A very good 'apocafic' with wonderful banter between Jack and Daniel.

    Jack/Daniel first time
  • Appassionato per l'acqua by Lady of Asheru is a gentle, fun initiation into her wirting. She calls this a swim! fic. :-) Try all the rest of her stories, you won't be disappointed.
  • Ardesco by Eideann When Daniel confronted Jack about the bad attitude he's been displaying towards him, he certainly didn't expect the colonel to declare his undying love. He needs to get away, and a paleontological expedition suggested by Robert Rothman seems just the ticket for some time to think. An interesting and well written story. While this story is complete in itself it looks as if it is intended to be part of a series, and, if the quality remains the same, I'll look forward to reading more.
  • Blackmail by Winkyb Daniel's living with Jack and it has its consequences. A beautifully characterised and often funny story.
  • Esprit de Corps by quercus is another of her beautiful J/D stories.
  • First Impressions by Pares. Snappy dialogue, mind melding/swapping, alien casinos and sex. Could you want more in an J/D fic?
  • Found in Translation by green grrl. Challenge fic. My prompt was the Ace of Cups A rather beautiful and gentle love story.
  • Found out about you by Byrne is her first J/D and hopefully not her last. Based in the early half of season 5 and touching on the antagonism that seemed to arise between the two men.
  • Herculaneum by Pares. I think I've recc'd everything this lady has written! This is a wonderful dialogue piece with a strong, assertive Daniel going for the jugular and not accepting delay.
  • Hunger by Keiko Kirin(gennish with subtle slash undertones)Daniel becomes a Vampire and Jack lets him feed from him, now has a J/D slash sequel Need by green_grrl. which is well worth a read.
  • How Daniel got his Groove Back by Nel is an enjoyable piece of writing that starts out with Daniel getting drunk to forget something, but then he can't remember what it was that he was trying to forget, so he calls Jack! Nicely written with all of SG-1 included and a lovely scene where Sam wonders out loud why Daniel, despite his looks and charm, just doesn't do it for her, to Daniel's intense bemusement.
  • Illumination by ELG is a new one to me, and I thought I'd read all her stories. It is sensual, beautiful and haunting.
  • Piece of Work by Joolz, (pre slash). Daniel has an admirer and it isn't Jack. Will an outside catalyst bring them together? Joolz uses Colonel Makepeace, pretty sympathetically, to give an outsiders view of Daniel and his relationship with Jack.
  • The Beggars Ride by Russet McMillan. A 'be careful what you wish for' story. Another writer, Andromeda did the sequelThe Love Ride, but it is no where near as good as the original.
  • The Evolution of Love by Bjs2cents. This is written in Season 8 and is a rather satisfying getting together of Daniel and Jack with some surprising intervention from Teal'c and Sam.
  • The Long Way Home by princessofg Doctor Jackson Goes to Washington A long, slow 'coming home' for Daniel. Beautiful writing, clever and witty dialogue. A real treat for J/D fans.
  • The night beyond the glass by Paian. Lost City' lost-weekend fic. The author considers this an unfinished WIP that she knows she'll never finish and didn't turn out how she expected. What she's given us is a glorious Jack and Daniel first time with wonderful dialogue and intense feelings.
  • There Are No Words by Paddy and its sequel, There Are No words, Nothing I Can Say. The first is from Daniel's point of view, the second Jack's, and both are well written and highly evocative stories. I think the author manages to pull off writing deep emotion without ever sinking into trite sentimentality and smarm.
  • What Rough Beast by quercus is a long, beautiful fic set in Egypt. What this is by Emma also features in my first reads. I was fascinated by it, although I think now that Daniel's characterisation is 'off' he is far too placid and non-confrontational. It is still worth a read through.

    Jack/Daniel Stranded
  • The Price of Knowledge by Graculus and Jennifer Lyon is an oldie but goodie. Long, and full of adventure it begins by assuming that Daniel and Jack did not get through the Stargate on Ernest's planet in Torment of Tantalus. This is the tale of their adventures and attempts to survive and some how get back home.
  • Used to it by Carolyn Claire. Daniel was naked by the fifth day. is a good a start as any for a J/D stranded on a desert planet type of story.
  • Possession by Claire was one of the first Stargate stories I read, I thought it was excellent, although I might have wished for a slightly more positive ending. Her other stories are worth checking out as well.

    Missing Scenes/Tags/Episode based stories
  • Alter_ergo by ELG is a J/D S/T follow on from the episode Urgo and is very funny in parts. Undercurrents is the follow up and is an AU of Beneath the Surface.
  • Boy Interrupted by Mitch starts a year from the events in Fragile Balance where Jon, Jack's duplicate, has just suffered a head injury following a RTA and can't remember himself yet has flashes of experiences that scare him. Jack and Daniel take him home and try to help him, but Jon decides to do his own investigation and gets things just a little wrong while managing to convince everyone that he's actually recovering most of his memories. This is a good story and is mostly written from Jon's point of view.
  • By Any Other Means by Tallulah Rasa It's hard to say what's better, and who's best. A vignette more than a story, post-Fragile Balance A lovely Jack and Daniel friendship piece as seen via a conversation with Daniel and miniJack.
  • Double Bed by Komos is angsty, painful. bittersweet and good. Set around Heroes I and II.
  • Falls the Shadows by Graculus. I like this fascinating, and slightly bewildering, story which is an AU twist on the episode The Gamekeeper.
  • Give and Take by Jane Davitt (gen) It's set immediately after S7's Homecoming; I figured that after being ascended Daniel's credit rating would be lousy, and he'd need somewhere to stay for a short while as it all got sorted out. A delightful friendship fic with Jack and Daniel so wonderfully and snidely in character it almost hurts. *g*
  • Halflife by Tripoli (gen) is an intriguing and involving post Meridian tale that provides us a picture into Teal'c, Sam and even Jonas' perceptions of events, but concentrates on the relationship - and how Daniel's ascension has affected it - between Jack and Daniel. Tripoli has Daniel reflect heavily on the 'life' he is living as an Ascended and how the Ascendeds' views and principles still conflict so strongly with what he was and what he still is. A very good read.
  • Intervals by Joy is a series of post episode dramas starting with the Broca Divide. Joy was initially going to end at Meridian, but has now decided to continue on through Season 6 and 7, which will be very interesting. Most of these stories are good, some are excellent. Try them and see for yourself.
  • Just like old times by Eos provides an AU, and an unusual, reason for Daniel's year long absence and an alternative ending to Lost City.
  • Lean on me by Selenay is an excellent post Meridian story.
  • Loki's Curse by Jonah in the whale is a long, fascinating and at times angsty story that follow the Season 7 episode Fragile Balance. Loki has been up to mischief and the SGC, in particular Jack and Daniel, have to deal with the results.
  • Many Roads by aurora novarum. (gen) Harrid's consciousness was not suppressed in Avalon 2 and Origin like Daniel theorized. This is the story of the many paths in Harrid's journey with Daniel, and the discoveries and conclusions he made. This is a very intriguing and interesting story, particularly for the way it tells us as much, if not more, about Daniel than Harrid. It also takes a look at Vala from a somewhat more objective viewpoint than Daniel's rather irritated and, understandably, biased one. *g*
  • My Dinner WithVala by Aelfgyfu is a missing scene for The Ties That Bindand shows Daniel and Vala's interaction as viewed from Jack pov, with interjections from both Landry and Teal'c.
  • Night Maneuvers by Ankh, Daniel/Cameron, gives a highly amusing explanation for why Mitchell tore the old SG-1 badge off Daniel's arm and slapped a new one on without a by your leave in Ex Deus Machina, oh and it also has a little bit of Vala in a predatory vamp mood.
  • Of This and Other Worlds by LRHBalzer(gen) While Jack deals with a worse-for-wear Daniel, Sam tries to figure out her place in the universe. An epilogue to Points of View, seen through Sam's eyes. Sam contemplates the differences between the Sam Carter who married Jack in the other universe and herself.
  • One by Lady Grey. Heroes 1 and 2 was a superb double episode, certainly the best of Season 7 and one of the contenders for best episode of the Series as a whole. Everyone performed superbly, but Michael Shanks as Daniel was absolutely fantastic in the second part. I loved every minute of his performance, but had one grumble, none of his team came to give him any support despite the fact that he was with Janet when she died.Lady Grey also felt this loss, hence this story.
  • Performance Review and its sequel Training by Redbyrd (gen) are tags for Prometheus Unbound. After their premature return from the Prometheus, SG-3 and Daniel Jackson are assigned to help train some new recruits. This can be summed up by the phrase, don't make assumptions about people. SGC recruits learn this to their costs, oh and Daniel gives advice on dating. *g*.
  • Present and Future by ETS is a tag for the episode Past and Present. Daniel needs to discover in himself the man that Sha're fell in love with, and to do this he needs a break from the SGC and from SG-1.
  • Reach the dawn by Eos is an alternative and intriguing look at Season 7.
  • Repeat again from the start by Otter Jack could taste Guinness and Daniel on his tongue. He leaned in closer, and pressed his mouth against Daniel's mouth, and it tasted just the same. Jack/Daniel/Sam I don't normally go in for this pairing, but this short Windows of Opportunity based story is just so intriguing.
  • Restrained by Lisa Michelle. A missing scene from The Powers That Be that gives us the requisite snark yet also shows the genuine caring developing between Daniel and Vala.
  • Return by Dira Sudis (gen) is a Team-centric post Fire and Water story that is well worth a read.
  • Revolution by Sideburns. Daniel has a few things to get off his chest... A postscript to Evolution, a well characterised Daniel and an interesting exploration of the relationships between all of the team as well as Jack and Daniel.
  • Ripples by Aelfgyfu. A gen, team story from Sam's pov and an epilogue to Ripple Effect where we get a good look into Sam's insecurities and worries. This is intense yet still manages to be humorous at times. It nails Daniel's character beautifully while Mitchell feels right and Teal'c remains calm and majestic. A very good Season 9 team fic.
  • Ripples by ELG, who also writes as Lori Grey and Circe has written the best damn gen. H/C
story I have ever read. In fact I'd go so far to say it is my all time favourite Stargate story. It is an tag to Shades of Grey.
  • The Archaeology of Skin by Nanda OT4 (D/S/J/T, sort of) 'Don't you ever just want to touch somebody? Don't you miss that?' Spoilers for S1 Tin Man; takes place between Tin Man and Double Jeopardy.
  • The Days Series by Layton Cole and FCOL These two have created a partnership writing some very funny stories missing scenes written from each member of the team's POV. (all gen.) We have Ten Days, a missing scene from Fail Safe and Seven Days is a missing scene from Urgo. Layton's a Danielite, FCOL's a Jackaholic. Both like their man to win whatever 'feud' the two are, inevitably, involved in, so wry wit and sarcastic humour abounds.
  • The Joy That You Find Here You've Borrowed by Paian The Ancients were the Teachers of Roads. Now all the roads are broken. Set after Unending. The story is painful and hard, and you may very well cry at the end, but it is so worth reading (there is the potential for a happy ending and the promise of an epilogue). It includes all the Season 10 team, plus Jack, and the development of Jack and Daniel's relationship is beautifully drawn.
  • The Price of our Legacy by Dragonflysoul (gen) is an excellent first story that give a slightly AU version of Daniel's capture and rescue in Evolution. It is written in four parts and has flashbacks, 'dream sequences', quotations, a flavour of Daniel and Sha're and truly superb characterisation of both Jack and Daniel, plus some great banter.
  • The Taste of Honey. The Hum of Bees by Salieri, gen. A fascinating, post Meridian and Season 6 Team story in Sam's POV that has its roots in Daniel Ascension, but also delves into the nature of the team and the connections that bind them together as comrades and friends. Deep, complex at times and with some wonderful imagery. I particularly liked the 'flying' part.
  • The Way Home by Ionah is a fascinating, bewildering and angsty tale set in season 7 after the events in Chimera. You're not entirely too sure what to believe until the end, and the whole thing is very well written.
  • This other Life by kellifer 'I don't regret my life or the things I've done. Maybe I made some huge mistakes, but they were mine. This other Daniel... he wasn't me at all. Interesting episode tag for Ripple Effect.
  • Trust Me by theemdash. Daniel take s a few moments alone in his office. A missing scene from Crusade, so you know Vala's got to be involved some how or other. *g*
  • Waking by Otter is a Beneath the Surface epilogue and highly enjoyable with a great beginning.
  • Yet another SG-1 adventure by minnow1212 (gen) is a post Fourth Horseman story that the author terms SG-1 silliness. it also includes Jack and is very funny.
  • You Can Go Home Again by ELG Part of Scribe's 'Shower Series (gen) After Double Jeopardy', Jack needs all his team safe and together, but does Daniel want to remain a part of SG-1? A great read, Daniel reaction to Sam's explanation of Black Holes is wonderful, but my absolute favourite lines in the story are: There was a pause before Daniel processed what he'd just said then darted him a surprised look. 'Are you being all...cosmic and metaphorical?' O'Neill considered the point for a moment and then nodded again. 'Pretty much.' Daniel pulled on his jacket. 'Well stop it, you're making me nervous'.
  • You Can't Always Get What You Want by betacandy It's 2995 B.C. in Ancient Egypt, and Daniel's marooned with a Sam who's making moon eyes at him, a Jack's who's determined to get under his skin, a ship to repair, a rebellion to plan, and a big pile of Jaffa in the basement. At least Teal'c's cool. Dedicated to everyone who watched Moebius Part 2 and thought, "WTF did they just do to my Daniel??? Strand him in hell with Teal'c and the Kama SutraTwits?" I wrote the story to find out, and it turns out maybe it wasn't so bad after all. Wonderfully engaging story.

    PWP or Hot action!
  • Endurance by Destina Hot Jack/Daniel teasing and action. I loved this and sniggered myself silly at the opening paragraphs!
  • Rules of Evidence by Paian Some porn and lengthy Daniel angst for tax day. A long, slow first time from Daniel's pov with added angst.
  • This Player Here, but in a fiction by Martha is both funny and sly.

    Post Meridian
  • Blues From Down Here by Kiden 'Not,' Jack says, sliding all of Daniel's French fries onto his own plate. 'It's perfectly natural, if not expected, for an officer to develop a crush on a superior. Happens all the time'. Lovely mixture of hope and happiness alongside pain and melancholy, centres on Jack and Daniel, but the team are always present.
  • Farther Than Earth From Heaven by Destina Fortunato is beautiful. Read a review on it that does homage to the story (and is a work of art in its own right!). Check out Destina's other Stargate stories while you are there.
  • Lean on me by Selenay is an excellent post Meridian story.

Quantum Mirror/Alternate Reality - our SG-1 coming across their alternates:
  • Alternate reality - A love Story by DebiC is lovely. A glitch in the Stargate drops Jack and Daniel in another reality where things are somewhat different. This is Gen and my favourite het (Daniel/Sha're) and is very angsty in parts. She has written a preslash follow up A Tragic Story, then 7 further stories that all contain J/D, but have many other surprises as the stories continue. A fascinating series and well worth a read, as are many other of the stories on her page.
  • Another Fine Universe You've Gotten Us Into by Tafkarfanfic. Oh, that pesky quantum mirror.. A highly amusing case of mistaken universes! And check out Daniel's very own form of communication while you're reading. *g*
  • Divergence by ELG (Gen for canon J/D, slash for alternate) When SG-1 are visited by SG-A from a different universe Jack and Daniel are surprised to find that in another world they are more than just good friends. I read this fic in a zine and loved it. The Jack and Daniel of canon universe are so well characterized and I adore their vocal sparring. Despite loving J/D slash I think this story is a wonderful advert for Jack and Daniel friendship. *g*
  • Fates Reflection by Yum (gen) Jack O'Neill thought he had seen the last of the quantum mirror. But when someone comes through the Stargate wearing his face, he finds himself and his team thrown into a war that could bear impossibly high costs for them all. Spoilers from seasons 1 to 3 I have the zine, and a very long, but good read it is too. Yum has crafted a fascinating tale of an alternate universe, juxtaposing it against our original SG-1 universe. She has created duplicates of Jack, Sam, Daniel and other members of the SGC, but not of Teal'c. Many of the SGC actually meet up with each other throughout the story, and have some fun in the process. It is also a pleasure to find General Maybourne as a 'good' character. I knew he had it in him! The main characters are, however, Jack's double, Captain John O'Neill; Daniel's double, Dan O'Neill; and Sam's double, Commander Sammy Hansen. Dr Frasier and her 'double' also play a leading role. The breadth of the story is enormous, and the list of characters - old, new and duplicate - is vast. While the major characters maintain the momentum of the story, Yum does not forget her minor characters, and their contributions are intriguing, and often essential to the plot. Read the whole review here
  • Forced Perspectives by Tenaya It comes with warnings and the first half it better than the second half, but it makes for a fascinating read, and a reminder of what is so 'good and decent' about Jack O'Neill.
  • Rearranging Fate by Redbyrd Charlie Kawalsky and Samantha Carter are astonished at the differences they find in this perfect alternate reality where their friends are alive and the Goa'uld attack has been averted. After they return home, they are faced with the enormous task of rebuilding Earth's failed defenses and they know they need to make some changes. Number one on their list..recruit Daniel Jackson... Dr. Daniel Jackson is kind of annoyed. The first real archeological job he's had in three years, and it's shut down due to..an alien attack?! But worrying about his academic reputation seems kind of petty in the face of the magnitude of this disaster. When he gets the message that the US military is looking for him, he figures it has to be mistaken identity. After all, why on earth would they be interested in him? A really interesting story about the alternate SGC that Sam Carter and Charlie Kawalsky came from seen initially through Kawalsky's pov. I love the way Redbyrd 'rebuilds' SG-1 and the clever way she allows us to compare it with the original.
  • Second Chances by JoaG with an epilogue by Darcy. This gen H/C story is a delight. It's Danny whumping, but I can handle it, and both Danny and Daniel certainly suffer. :-) A trip through the quantum mirror has Daniel encounter his worse nightmare. With a little bit of jiggery pokery, Jack is determined that the young Danny Jackson they encounter will have a far better upbringing than his friend Daniel. Darcy' s epilogue brings tears to the eyes. A wonderful story.
  • Through a glass darkly by Apocrypha (gen.) enthralled me. I also liked the J/D slash sequel,Shattered Reflections

    Road Trip
  • Driving me crazy by Ximeria. In the days after Jack's return to wakefulness, he contemplates his new assignment. Daniel offers time to think and they go on a little trip in more than one sense. An enjoyable road trip that allows both Jack and Daniel to reflect on what they want from life now Jack has been offered the command of the SGC. The ending made me snigger. *g

    Series
  • Alternate reality - A love Story by DebiC is lovely. A glitch in the Stargate drops Jack and Daniel in another reality where things are somewhat different. This is Gen and my favourite het (Daniel/Sha're) and is very angsty in parts. She has written a preslash follow up A Tragic Story, then 7 further stories that all contain J/D, but have many other surprises as the stories continue. A fascinating series and well worth a read, as are many other of the stories on her page.
  • Daniel's Diaries by Scribe (gen)include the wonderful Shower Scenes. Theseare often funny, always clever, sometimes moving and always worth a read. She also has a few other contributors keen to get Daniel, and at times Jack, naked. Well who wouldn't? Scribe is also a Danny whumper extraordinaire. Some of her stories have me reading with my eyes closed (a specialty of mine), but I have a soft spot for Peace Offering (written with Kaz). I still want to know exactly what that outfit Osiris had Daniel wearing looked like!
  • Disconnected by Brionhet is actually the third part of the overall series called Disconnected. It can be read on its own. I like it and Reconstruction, the last part, the best. The first two parts are hard hitting and painful, the last two have hope, humour and fun in them. The whole series, which has now been extended to eight, is an enjoyable read.
  • Eternal Embrace is by Beverly Hills, the poetry is the author's own and is beautiful. The last part of the series is heartbreaking, but must be read!
  • Horoscopes: Lucky Stars by Thel (gen) is a series of short stories written to the theme of the horoscope. Some are humorous, some angsty others dramatic, all are worth reading.
  • Keys by blue meridian The mission had been... long. He didn't have pictures of Jack in the ball gown, but he'd settle for catching up on his sleep. A delightfully amusing story based on Daniel's apparent regular change of accommodation! This is gen/pre slash, the sequels are J/D slash and well worth reading as well.
  • Stealth and Wall by Leviathan is a Daniel/Teal'c series- that explores their differences and expands a little on Jaffa culture. The relationship is seen through Teal'c's eyes, and is all the more fascinating because of it. (Link is to main page as none of the stories are linked together). She has a J/D series, and of the two stories I really liked Skaara's Wedding.
  • The Car Series by Devra has the works; humour, angst, H/C, drama. I think Motor Running is perhaps the best so far. Devra has a large number of other stories that are worth a look thorugh.
  • The Steak Series by Keiko Kirin Some eating, mostly talking. A delightful series of tales about Jack and Daniel all based in a bar.
  • The Thief Series by Cleo the Muse asks Ever wonder what happened to Vala immediately after she left with the al'kesh?(pre Danel/Vala) This is a delightfully amusing series about Vala's activities between Prometheus Unbound and Avalon. So how did Vala know where to find Daniel, and what bait to bring?
  • This Is Me by Jennifer Lyons is a bittersweet series of short connecting stories.
  • You'd Forgotten Love Could mean This by Delilah is her first Stargate story and I think it is wonderful. There are a number of stories in this series all linked from the first one.

    Team Fic
  • A Lapse of Gravity by shalott is a team fic with a difference from Sam's pov. I'm not certain what I make of it, but it's certainly very intriguing.
  • A million years into the sky by Niamaea team; (peripheral S/C) Niamaea is one of the founders of [profile] sg1_ever_after about giving SG-1 happy endings. This beautiful story certainly does that, in a very warm and gentle manner.
  • Adrift by JoaG (gen) SG-1, Lost in Space. An interesting SG-1 meet the aliens story with some good twists and turns on the way. JoaG writes some excellent team stories. Check out her site.
  • Ambrosius by Cleo the Muse (a little Daniel/Vala) Merlin may be gone, but some of his memories remain. As Daniel struggles to sort through visions of the Ancient's past, the team takes a mission to a peaceful-looking world with a very dangerous secret. Enjoyable and intriguing fic with a Season 9 team, yep Vala, and dragons. :-)
  • Choose Your Battles by Brionhet (gen) TPTB decide that the Marines need their own SG team and SG1 is given the job of giving them an introduction to the SGC. The jarheads decide they don't want any alien, civilian or woman telling them what to do and get really nasty. A lovely display of team from SG-1, some great confrontations and a mission gone wrong.
  • Christmas in a State of Mind by En_vy is a team fic more than J/D and is highly enjoyable, oh and this story is entirely snowmen, fir trees, baubles and decorations free.
To Let His Kingdom Rise by ivorygates is a chilling coda with Hail for the King is Here being the very dark coda to that. Alternatively Tangled Web: Five Ways The Truth Will Out by greengirl giving us three very different endings from details planted in Close to Bone and two endings extended past To Let His Kingdom Rise. All are worth reading.
  • Living on the Edge by Babs (gen) is written from Sam's pov and is angsty and very team centric. Lovely interaction between all four members, particularly Sam and Teal'c.
  • Meeting of Minds by SEF. A gen story occurring after Daniel returns to the SGC and to an very overprotective SG-1. The Gadmeer, the aliens from the episode Scorched Earth, want to meet their saviour Daniel Jackson and exchange knowledge. This is a fascinating story with twists and turns at every page, and is written from Sam's POV.
  • Mnemophobia by Tripoli (gen). When SG-1 discovers Daniel alive and well and living someone else's life, all they want to do is bring him home. Someone else's life has other ideas. A very intriguing take on Daniel's 'deascension' , and a reaffirmation of both the unity and friendship of SG-1 and what actually makes Daniel, Daniel.
  • Pioneers of the Industry by Travelling One A Gen story that reads like a good episode. Angsty, intriguing and very imaginative.
  • Shen by PeaceHeather (gen) Shen means 'less than' in the Arkon language, and that's what the Shen are, totally obedient slaves, a rich man's plaything. Arkon is rich in naquada and SG-1 have been ordered to negotiate for it. No one on SG-1 can hide their revulsion in regards to the training and ownership of the Shen, but to show their status they must accept one of the noble's Shen services during their stay. As Daniel can speak the language he has the most contactwith the female Shen assigned to them, and it is Daniel who pays for the jealousy of her owner. A fascinating and original story.
  • SG-1 Fluff by Thea. Team fic of the Daniel, Vala, Teal'c and Mitchell variety, so if it's got Vala in it you just know something wicked must happen!
  • Surface Tension by Salieri (gen) is the type of story that requires concentration, but rewards you in the end for your effort. It is told from Sam's pov and is stark, dark and clever.
  • Tarantella by gooligan A horror story and a team story despite the fact that Daniel is split from the other three and all of them are on a very scary and inhospitable planet. Well written and full of suspense.
  • The Eye of Tiamat by Seanchaidh (gen) A missing Russian team sends SG-1 into the lair of the Goa'uld Marduk. An enjoyable team story originally published in Ashton Press's Splinters 'zine, and an AU version of The Tomb.
  • The Past Remembered by Pho is a long gen. H/C story. I've read it a couple of times, and liked the use Pho makes of Daniel's childhood and his parent's death as the basis of the plot. The evil Roland Parker made me shiver, and I was absorbed by his overwhelming interest in Daniel, past, present and future. Daniel focused, but most definitely a team story. Pho has other stories worth checking out.
  • Through the eyes of a Serpent by Eos (gen) Daniel gets snaked, as seen through Daniel's eyes. The follow up Legacy of the Serpentcontinues the story and while very dark and disturbing at times, also has some wonderful one liners mostly from Jack and Daniel, but also from Sam and Teal'c.
  • Trigger Finger (The eleven o'clock remix by mistral amara(gen) Daniel has an unexpected brush with danger, and his team members find out. Amusing and clever.

    Threesomes
  • Esprit de corps by Tenaya is a J/D/T threesome, and is another of those rare stories that is so well done that it makes you believe that something so unlikely as J/D/T could actually happen. It is excellently written with some very hot sex, and a very strong sense of love and respect between all three characters.
  • Lighter by Kres. J/D/S. It's crazy what you could have had. A post Season 8 story that keeps surprising you.
  • The Singer Series by Legion I surprise myself by liking Legion's stories, mainly because they are J/D/T, and I cannot believe in threesomes, nor this threesome in particular. But somehow Legion bypasses my disbelief and gives me The Singer Series with a wonderful alien. I also enjoyed Private Little World.

    Videos
  • Stargate SG-1, Flagpole Sitta (aka A Decade Of Whump) by the fabulous [personal profile] littleheaven. This centres on Daniel (the title might have given you a clue *g*) and I think this must be one of the best, if not the best, fan video I've seen. The music selected is so damn apt and the cutting and editing is so superbly done so as to completely fit with the lyrics that I'm in total awe.
  • It's All Been Done by wyomingnot A great J/D video, beautifully edited and a great song to go with it!
  • Over my Head by [personal profile] di_br is a Daniel/Vala vid which is a lot of fun to watch.
